binary girl: the secret blog

when will it stop being all about babies?

Ava and I were talking yesterday about how it seems like a lot of new parents become sublimated by their children and stop talking about anything outside of their kids. I was, of course, thinking about that while I spent time with her and Shane today; granted, we did do mainly kid-prep-related stuff (Old Navy Maternity ’cause I’m too big for most of my maternity pants now, Lullaby Lane to look at strollers and buy a couple things), but it seemed like we talked about a lot of things that weren’t baby-related.

Which makes me feel better. Sort of.

However, it also makes me wonder about how I’m going to relate to some of my friends who are in incredibly different places than I am. Thankfully, it seems like most of my friends already understand that I’m sort of slothy about doing things like going to shows, clubs, and staying out late (marriage apparently slowed B and I both down significantly). It will be interesting to see how things develop there, though.
